One of the landmark British comic keys, 2000 AD Prog #2 contains the first appearance of Judge Dredd in the story Judge Whitey. This copy is graded NM 9.4 with Off-White to White Pages, representing a very well-preserved collectible with only minor wear or small manufacturing/handling defects at this grade. The issue launches Dredd's published run while also featuring early chapters of Invasion!, Flesh, M.A.C.H. 1, Dan Dare, and Harlem Heroes. A major early 2000 AD collectible and the debut of the character who became the title's defining figure.

Key Details:
  • First Published Judge Dredd Story – Judge Whitey is the 5-page story that begins Dredd's published 2000 AD run.
  • Original Biotronic Man Giveaway Issue – Prog 2 was originally distributed with cyborg-style Biotronic Man stickers.
  • Early 2000 AD Launch Issue – Only the second prog, also featuring Dan Dare, Invasion!, Flesh, M.A.C.H. 1 and Harlem Heroes.
  • Early Dredd Artwork – Mike McMahon draws the debut story, with GCD crediting Carlos Ezquerra for the first image of Judge Dredd.
Storyline:
In the debut Judge Dredd story, Judge Whitey, criminal Whitey Logan kills Judge Alvin and attracts the attention of Dredd. Rather than simply destroying the gang's hideout, Dredd personally goes after Whitey, captures him and sentences him to Devil's Island. The issue also continues five other launch-era 2000 AD features, making Prog 2 an anthology of several of the publication's earliest strips.
