Condition Report
Cosmetic Status: This complete lot is in very nice vintage cosmetic shape. The top chrome plates on the camera chassis, the black leatherette body wraps, and the lens barrels show normal, signs of prior handling, edge scuffs, scrapes and storage dust consistent with age. All engraved enamel tracking marks, the iconic gold "Electro 35" atomic badge, and measurement dials remain sharp and legible. The original leather storage cases are structurally sound with working fasteners.
Mechanical Status: The mechanical controls feel responsive. The top film advance lever cocks smoothly under mechanical tension, and the shutter release button plunges cleanly. The manual focus ring, aperture selection track, and mode toggles (B / Auto / Flash) on the lens barrel rotate smoothly as intended.
Testing Profile: This bundle is sold strictly as untested. Because this specific electronic model relies on an obsolete 5.6V mercury battery format (commonly bypassed by modern users using a 4LR44 battery and a spacer sleeve), the internal electronics, CdS metering cell, "Slow/Over" arrow indicator lights, and electronic shutter accuracy have not been powered up or verified.
Introduced in the late 1960s and updated throughout the 1970s with the refined GSN chassis, the Yashica Electro 35 series is widely considered by photography historians to be a true milestone of the analog age. It earned global fame as the world's very first mass-produced camera to utilize an electronically controlled "stepless" automatic shutter brain, selecting infinite shutter speed adjustments seamlessly between 1/500 second and 30 full seconds based on ambient lighting conditions.
Anchored by the legendary, exceptionally bright Color-Yashinon DX 45mm f/1.7 prime glass, this camera delivers beautiful edge-to-edge resolution and a creamy background blur ("bokeh") that makes it a massive modern favorite for street photographers and film purists. When expanded into this rare master bundle—reuniting the camera with its dedicated screw-on telephoto/wide converters, the corresponding top parallax viewfinder, and a heavy-duty press grip—it turns into an incredible collector's treasure chest and a magnificent ready-made museum display lot.
