RARE 1930s Jay Cook’s Ice Cream Norwalk Pure Milk Advertising Sign Norwalk, Ohio


I’ve never seen another example of this sign. Made of metal and measures 17” long by 7” wide.

Back has proper cleaning instructions. Made by American Art Works out of Coshocton, Ohio.


The Partnership (1932): In 1932, a local businessman named Jay Cook partnered with Edward Schaechterle to purchase the existing Cook Dairy company in Norwalk, Ohio.


The Brand Name: Following the buyout, the business was operated as Norwalk Pure Milk, Inc.. To build on the dairy's local reputation and Cook's involvement, they branded their premium dessert line as "Jay Cook’s Distinctive Ice Cream".


Facility Location: The company processed milk and manufactured their ice cream at their plant located at 80 Norwood Avenue in Norwalk, Ohio. This facility operated as a prominent local dairy supplier for several decades
