1961 Citroën DS19 Décapotable Coachwork by Henri Chapron

An exceptionally elegant and rare Henri Chapron-bodied Citroën DS19 Décapotable, restored in 2000 and accompanied by its Chapron Certificate, recently acquired in Paris and now offered in the UK.
One of the most celebrated interpretations of the revolutionary Citroën DS, this elegant DS19 Décapotable carries coachwork by renowned French coachbuilder, Henri Chapron, and is recorded as number 128 produced in the D SeriesChapron body number 0013.000096 was delivered new in France and is accompanied by a Chapron Certificate confirming its origins, including its original blue paintwork and white leather interior
Acquired by its previous owner in 2000 and comprehensively restored that same year, it is now attractively presented in dark red metallic with a burgundy leather interior. The engine had been replaced prior to the restoration and was overhauled at that time.
In 2022 the car was comprehensively assessed by KFZ-Sachverständige and rated Grade 2 out of 5, with Grade 1 being the highest. It is accompanied by the resulting condition report, German registration documents and the aforementioned Chapron Certificate.
Currently in the UK under temporary import arrangements. Should the car remain in the UK, we understand that import charges at the reduced rate of 5% will become payable by the purchaser on declared value; alternatively, the car retains free movement within the EU.
The car drives beautifully & is in very good running condition. It has slightly quiry french charm to the contols with the starter, after tuning the key, being activated by moving the gear lever abover the steering wheel fully left.
