HIGONOKAMI TANTO Style White Paper Steel Warikomi Japanese Folding Knife (Large)

HIGONOKAMI is a traditional Japanese folding knife with the history of over 130 years in production since 1894.
It is sometimes said to be a "Japanese Opinel" with its same long history, simple construction, durability, and unchanging original shape.
This has been a standard folding knife every Japanese familiar with.
There have been about 40 factories manufacturing HIGONOKAMI in peak period (1950's), but only one small factory remaining now on the verge of extinction due to the appearance of pencil sharpener, snap-off blades, etc.

Most of their knives are made with the traditional Japanese Katana forging procedure, which is to sandwitch harder steel with softer steel to realize both hardness and viscosity.

This is a model with rare TANTO style blade, which has the same shape as traditional Japanese Katana.
It is made of White Paper steel, which is the purest carbon steel and chosen by many professionals for its well-balanced structure between hardness and ease of sharpening.
