Black Parchment cover - Blade appears as Switchblade
Blade of the Nightstalkers, sick of the supernatural, seeks out and reads a page from the Darkhold, transforming him into a "demogorge" (not to be confused with the original Demogorge) who is swiftly nicknamed "Switchblade." After killing two of the three people who had tried to stop him, his vampiric partner Hannibal King and Hellfire-wielding motorcyclist Johnny Blaze,[1] Switchblade goes on a killing spree, slaughtering any supernatural being he encounters and absorbing their occult powers and knowledge into himself. Just before he's killed, Modred informs Darkhold Redeemer Louise Hastings that there existed within the Darkhold a counter-spell that could unmake the demogorge, but Switchblade learns of this threat to his power after killing Modred.[2] Switchblade's attempt to steal the Darkhold from the Sanctum Sanctorum of Doctor Strange leads to him killing Ghost Rider and absorbing his powers. However, since those powers included Ghost Rider's Penance Stare, Blade is forced to experience the pain he had caused his victims, overwhelming him long enough to allow Hastings to reach the Darkhold, find the counter-spell and read it, knowing that to do so meant sacrificing her soul. Once the words are spoken, the spell is called forth, depowering Blade and restoring everyone he had killed to life.[3]
