Very nice BEACON ISLAND point that measures 3 3/16" long by 1" wide.  Beacon Island points are from the Late Archaic to Early Woodland periods and date in the 3,600 to 2,200 BP range.  Used both as a hunting dart or spear tip and a cutting / butchering tool.  Material is a glossy piece of Fort Payne chert.  Found in Morgan County, Tennessee.  A very well-made thin example.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

This point was found by noted Avocational Archaeologist Ralph Allen of Alabama. Mr. Allen found and named this point type.  Sometime after his passing, his collection was acquired by Dennis Bushey of Selma, Alabama.   I purchased this piece from Mr. Bushey in 1996 and sent it to Tom Davis of Stanton, Kentucky for his COA.  It has been pictured in the Overstreet guide, the one I have on hand is V3 pg. 109.  I am the third owner of this fine 100% Authentic point, and it will come with the Davis COA and my artifact data sheet.  Buy only real, authentic artifacts!
