Amethyst symbolises tranquillity, clarity, and spiritual
wisdom. In mythology, it is linked to the Greek legend of the maiden
Amethystos. According to the tale, Amethystos was turned into a clear crystal
by the goddess Artemis to protect her from the wrath of Dionysus, the god of
wine. Dionysus, regretful of his actions, poured wine over the crystal, giving
it its distinctive purple hue.
