Vintage Saint Nicholas Bronze Relief Plaque Egino Weinert Style German Religious
Impressive and substantial vintage cast bronze relief plaque depicting Saint Nicholas (St. Nikolaus), one of the most recognized and beloved saints in Christian tradition.
The word “NIKOLAUS” is prominently incorporated into the upper part of the composition, while the deeply modeled relief presents several traditional episodes associated with the life and miracles of Saint Nicholas.
The central figure shows the saint dressed as a bishop and holding his pastoral staff. Surrounding narrative scenes appear to reference some of his best-known legends, including his generosity toward those in need, his protection of children and his traditional association with sailors and travelers.
The lower portion includes a ship motif, while several smaller figures and a building scene create an unusually detailed narrative composition.
The heavy cast construction, sculptural depth and naturally aged bronze surface give the plaque considerable visual presence.
The work is believed to be associated with / attributed to the German religious artist and sculptor Egino Weinert (1920–2012).
No clearly readable artist's signature or maker's mark has been identified in the photographs; therefore, the attribution is presented conservatively and buyers are encouraged to make their own assessment from the detailed photographs.
