Taylor 512 (no260901) This model was manufactured in 1994 at the El Cajon factory in California. While Taylor is now strongly associated with electro-acoustic guitars, this model is a pure acoustic guitar without a pickup. The 500 series was positioned as a high-end model in Taylor's guitar lineup at the time, and the 512 was an expensive model with a price tag of ¥300,000 (excluding tax) on the distributor's price list at the time. It features a 15-inch grand concert body with scalloped bracing. It is characterized by a rich and articulate sound. The body top is spruce, the sides and back are mahogany, it has a one-piece mahogany neck, rosewood headplate, ebony fingerboard, and ebony bridge. The fingerboard is inlaid with mother-of-pearl "DIAMOND INLAY". The nut width is 1 3/4 inches (approximately 44.5 mm), and the scale length is 25.5 inches (approximately 648 mm). The guitar features an original TUSQ nut and saddle, and Grover 102C Rotomatic tuners. While the tuners are slightly stiff, they function without issue. Approximately 30 years have passed since it was new, resulting in discoloration on the body top, giving it a dignified, semi-vintage look with a rich amber hue. The top shows numerous scratches, scuffs, and dents from use, and similar scratches are scattered across the sides and back, indicating overall wear and tear. The binding on both sides of the neck's curved section has been repaired, and gaps are visible, but it is now securely glued and does not affect functionality. However, traces of adhesive remain around the repaired areas. On the other hand, there are no major repairs such as cracks. On the back of the neck, there is a dent near the 12th fret on the 6th string side, a paint chip near the 4th fret on the 1st string side, and some lifting of the clear coat on the 6th string side. There are also scattered minor scratches, and the original satin finish has worn down and become glossy with use, but this does not affect playability. The guitar is well-adjusted, with a string height of 2.3mm at the 12th fret for the 6th string and 1.6mm for the 1st string, making it easy to play from strumming to fingerpicking. The frets have ample height, and the truss rod functions without any problems. It boasts Taylor's signature bright tone, with a solid core, excellent articulation, and responsiveness. The midrange is also rich, making it particularly well-suited for fingerpicking. This is a well-built, high-quality model, and was a popular model at the time, alongside the 514ce. A well-worn original hardshell case is included. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
