Vintage Egino Weinert Bronze St Ignatius Loyola Plaque Jesuit Religious Decor

Attributed to / created by German sacred artist Egino Weinert (1920–2012).

Impressive large vintage bronze relief plaque depicting Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).

The composition is rich in Christian and Jesuit symbolism. Saint Ignatius is shown prominently in the center holding a book and raising his hand in blessing. The upper left features the IHS Christogram, a symbol strongly associated with the Society of Jesus.

Additional scenes include a military figure, recalling Ignatius' early life as a soldier, and a representation of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child.

The deeply modeled relief, expressive figures, textured background and naturally aged bronze patina give the plaque a powerful sculptural presence.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition with surface wear, patina, oxidation and age-related marks consistent with previous display and use.

There are small areas of green oxidation/verdigris visible on the bronze, particularly around the upper figure. These have been left untouched to preserve the original aged appearance.
