Antique German Art Nouveau visiting-card receiver featuring an elegant asymmetrical form, raised floral and berry decoration, openwork accents, and an integrated handle.

The center is engraved “Bitte Ihre Karte,” which translates approximately to “Your card, please.” Pieces such as this were placed in an entry hall to receive visitors’ calling or business cards.

The top bears the WMF ostrich hallmark identifying the maker as Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik of Geislingen, Germany. The accompanying “OX,” “I/O,” and “B” marks indicate an oxidized finish, standard silver plating, and a Britannia-metal base. The piece is also marked with the model or pattern number 393. Based on the hallmark, it dates to approximately 1900–1918.

The card receiver is in antique, used condition. It has not been polished and is offered in its present, as-found condition.
