The commemorative coin is dedicated to the bee personifying wisdom, prolificacy and diligence.

On the coin obverse within the circle of beads there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine, above it - 2010 (the coin issue year), on the left Au 999,9 (coin metal and its fineness) and on the right - the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint and the coin weight in fineness - 1,24; between the circle and the coin edge there are the semicircular legends: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) above and 2 ГРИВНІ (2 hryvnias) underneath.

On the coin reverse there is depicted the bee with the semicircular inscriptions - above БДЖОЛА (Bee) and APIS MELLIFERA beneath.
