The Divine Demonstration: A Text-Book of Christian Evidence, by Harvey W. Everest, A.M., LL.D. Gospel Advocate Company, Nashville, Tennessee, 1972 - a reprint of the 1884 Christian Publishing Company edition. ISBN: none. Everest wrote a great deal for various publications but produced only one book, and this is it - a systematic textbook of Christian evidences written while he was President of Butler University and Professor of Biblical Literature and Moral Science, long used in Restoration Movement colleges. Everest (b. 1831, North Hudson, New York) studied at Geauga Seminary, Western Reserve Eclectic Institute at Hiram, Bethany College, and Oberlin, and went on to serve as President of Eureka College (twice), President of Butler University, Chancellor of Garfield University at Wichita, President of Southern Illinois State Normal at Carbondale, and Dean of Drake University - institutions famous for their connections with Alexander Campbell and James A. Garfield.

Condition: GOOD. Grey linen-finish cloth hardcover with silver spine lettering; binding tight and square; text clean and unmarked throughout - no underlining, highlighting, or margin writing. In the original decorative cream dust jacket under a removable mylar (Brodart) protector. Note that this jacket carries no printed price on either flap - both flaps are given over to an author biography - so price-clipping does not apply. Honest defects: soiling and smudging to the jacket front and rear panels, with a pale scuffed patch to the rear; foxing spots and toning along the jacket spine with a chip at the head; light rubbing to the spine lettering; and uneven tanning across the top edge and fore-edge of the text block.
