Per the author:
This coffee table book presents over 700 full-color pictures of 50 “Distinctive Homes of America”, all located throughout the city of Naples. Each home was selected because it has distinctive features that set it apart in a positive way. Some homes are so well designed and built that they are without peer. Our goal was to present the 50 featured distinctive homes and their surrounding communities in the best possible light.
Twelve professional photographers contributed their own spectacular photography to accomplish this. The principal photography was shot by me, author Glenn Hettinger, AIA as I drove, boated and walked around Naples. Most of the featured homes are arranged in random order to avoid a repetition of architectural style, designers, builders or neighborhoods. This was also done to create a sense of anticipation with each page turn.
Please enjoy your tour of these homes, many of which have not previously been photographed. Speaking personally, visiting Naples for the first time was love at first sight. I had lived in Florida for 32 years, but it took traveling to a destination wedding in April, 2013 for me to discover Naples. I was amazed by all of the things that I loved about this town, and I instantly knew that it would make a great setting for my next book – this one. Book III. Of the many things I love about this city is this one contagious the flow of pedestrians heading west to the white sand beaches every night about an hour before sunset. The east-west Avenues are filled with residents carrying beach chairs and refreshments. This town makes the time to enjoy the free sunsets with neighbors and a cold drink most evenings. How delightful is that?!
