Solid Brass Old MORTAR & PESTLE - Pharmacy Apothecary Pharmacist Drugs Medicine Food

Great old patina on this solid brass mortar and pestle set.  Mortar has banded decoration with square ears and a very pleasing flared shape.  

Flared top is 5 inches in diameter which corresponds to the number “5" stamped into the metal at the bottom.  Height is 4-1/4 inches.  Diameter at base is 1-3/4 inches.   Pestle is 8-1/4 inches in length and has ends that are 1-1/2 inches in diameter.  Weight is 3 lbs; shipping weight is 4 lbs.  

The mortar and pestle has design elements clearly indicating this is a matching set.  Both also show the minor dings and patina from long use, with nothing preventing its continued long use.  

A wonderful example of the pharmacists trade, with use in medicine or food preparation.
