This listing is for a bundle that includes a Micro-ATX Socket 775 motherboard from ASRock. Based on the Intel 865G chipset, this board is one of the last boards with an AGP Slot and this opens up a lot of possibilites in terms of Windows XP, Windows 98 and even MS-DOS retro gaming.

If you're into retro gaming, this bundle is great to play Windows XP and MS-DOS games. Here are some of the games that I played: Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Halo: Combat Evolved, Half-Life 1 and 2, Midtown Madness, Thief II, Star Wars Shadows of the Empire, Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Commander Keen, Prince of Persia 1 and 2, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, and many others.

The board was extensively tested and stressed for many hours with multiple CPUs, AGP cards, and peripherals, including prolonged 3DMark runs, and has proven completely stable.

Through the BIOS or using software tools the system can easily be slowed down to run old speed sensitive games (even 386-era games become accessible).

The BIOS was flashed to the latest stable version (P3.30).

Please do note that if you unplug the ATX power cable, the board doesn't keep track of BIOS CMOS settings (even with a fully charged battery). This is known problem with this model from ASRock.

CONDITION

The motherboard looks in good condition, without bulging or leaking capacitors. Also, there are no missing or bent pins. It's still a used item and if you look closely enough you'll notice the IO ports have small signs of wear. I gave it a good clean with IPA and distilled water and installed a new CMOS battery. I also cleaned the CPU and added new thermal compound.

Please Take Note Of The Following Before Buying

  1. This listing is just for the bundled motherboard, IO shield, CPU + cooler, graphics card and RAM. No keyboard, mouse, monitor, cables, case, power supply, power cords, or any other equipment or material is included.
  2. BIOS settings are lost in case of a power loss or if the ATX power cable is unplugged, even with a fully charged coin cell battery. Please consider this item condition as "for parts or not working" if this feature is vital to you.
  3. The parallel port wasn't tested (don't have the equipment to test it). But it shows in the device manager without issues so I presume it's working.
  4. I didn't test the RJ-45 port.
  5. MS-DOS and Windows 98 weren't designed for large amounts of memory. However there are tools and patches to make these operating systems support more memory. Please, do your own research on this topic before buying this bundle.
  6. There are no Windows 98 drivers for the bundled graphics card. Use the integrated graphics card instead which has Windows 98 drivers. You'll get very decent performance and compatibility in Windows 98 and MS-DOS.
  7. For packaging purposes, I may remove from the respective slots any of the following components: CPU, cooler, graphics card and memory sticks. You may need to install all those items back again.
