Antique French c.1810-30 Palais Royal Scabbard Needle Case, Mother of Pearl, 18k
Obviously salvaged from what would have been a beautiful fitted early 1800s Palais Royal sewing box, the type we love to find and bring to you, this is a superb c.1810 needle case. Pearl with 18k gold medallion with the coveted kiln-dried enamel flower, and the 18k trim at collar. I don't think of these gorgeous old sewing tools are to use, the old pearl is rather too fragile and so advise these be for the collector. Full measurements missed being noted on photos, and are: 3.5" long in full, 3/41.5" widest, 1/4" depth.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, elegant carved in the arrow scabbard form with nothing missing including the delicately inlaid 18k gold and enamel flower plaque or medallion and 18k gold collar, trim. The neck insert is somehow a little loose, though is original, no alteration, and as with all of these I do not suggest using for your sewing. These are museum pieces, over 200 years old, preserved to display. NOTE: Embroidered panel is there to show them off, and is not included. Lots of other Palais Royal and 18k gold sewing items to sell, be sure to search our store.

We most often use USPS for our shipping needs but will be happy to ship by another carrier if you prefer.
We charge only actual postage & insurance, never a handling fee and never for packaging materials. The shipping price, speed and handling are actually under the sole control of the delivering postal agency, not Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. As always, please also feel free to contact us if you have any problems or concerns, we'll do what we can to ensure a happy and mutually enjoyable transaction.
We always insure our items BUT, more importantly, pack them extremely well knowing that most are not replaceable. Again, damage in transit, while rare in our experience, is due to the postal agency handling and not caused by Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Thanks!
Our shipping days are usually Monday and Friday though we do our best to ship within one to two days once paid. Otherwise, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.
