The GP-850 is Sparmax's coverage powerhouse in a pistol-grip body. Where a standard airbrush is built for detail, this is built for laying paint down over large areas quickly and evenly — scenic bases and terrain, RC and large-scale model shells, automotive touch-up, T-shirts, and spray tanning. The 0.5 mm head gives high paint flow, and the big 125cc cup keeps you spraying instead of refilling.

The clever part is the two interchangeable air caps. The round cap gives the familiar round airbrush pattern for controlled work; the fan cap throws a wider oval pattern that covers ground fast with minimal overspray. Swapping is quick — undo the retaining collar and change the cap — and the fan cap can be rotated to spray tall-and-narrow or short-and-wide.

Compressor requirement — read this. The fan cap needs a compressor supplying at least 1.2 CFM. A small hobby compressor (for example the Sparmax Arism Mini, at roughly 0.42–0.49 CFM) will run the round cap fine, but won't properly drive the fan cap. For full fan-pattern performance, use a larger compressor — ideally one with a tank.

✗ Sparmax parts are model-specific — the GP-850's needle, nozzle and caps are for this model; don't assume they fit other Sparmax airbrushes.

✗ Don't remove the nozzle unless it's damaged — thorough cleaning avoids the need.

⚖️ Honest Limitations

• The fan cap needs a bigger compressor (≥1.2 CFM). On a small hobby compressor you'll get the round cap only. If the fan pattern is why you want this, make sure your air supply can feed it.

• This is a coverage tool, not a detail airbrush. The 0.5 mm pistol-grip format is for large areas, terrain, RC shells and tanning. For fine miniature detail, use a 0.2–0.35 mm gravity airbrush instead.
