A rare and exceptional pair of “Objekt” series vases designed by Heiner Balzar for Steuler Keramik, Germany, circa 1970s. These sculptural forms exemplify the refined minimalism and architectural clarity that defined Balzar’s tenure at Steuler during the height of the West German art pottery movement.
Each vase is a study in balance and restraint. Flat, monolithic silhouettes with a narrow top aperture and subtly asymmetrical contours that invite both visual and tactile exploration. The soft matte glazes in powdered pink and muted blue are among the rarest colorways produced, evoking the serenity and tonal discipline of Bauhaus-inspired design.
The pieces bear the impressed Steuler hexagonal “S” mark and Germany stamp, authenticating them as original works from Steuler’s high-era production. Their commanding presence, yet quiet elegance, allows them to stand alone as sculptural objects or as a striking complementary pair.
Dimensions (each): approximately 12” H × 12” W × 2–4” D
Condition: Larger vase is in excellent vintage condition with only minimal wear consistent with age; no cracks or structural damage. Smaller vase has approximately 2" hairline crack near opening on each side. Please see video and photos for details.
Provenance: Designed by Heiner Balzar, Steuler Keramik, Germany, 1970s.

A superb acquisition for collectors of modernist ceramics, West German pottery (WGP), or 20th-century European design, these vases embody the quiet sophistication and sculptural modernism of the era. Rarely seen in this color combination, they are both investment-grade and interior statement pieces.
