Gibson Custom Shop 1957 Les Paul Junior Single Cut / 2024

This is a used 2024 Gibson "1957 Les Paul Junior Single Cut".

The Les Paul Junior appeared in 1954 as a more affordable model in the Les Paul series. It is characterized by its overall simple form. It features a sweet and sustained tone from the mahogany neck and a thick tone that is different from Fender's single-coil pickups, thanks to the "P-90" single-coil pickups that are directly mounted to the body, known as the dog-ear type.

In the 1960s, production of the Les Paul, including the Junior, was discontinued, but in the 1980s, production of the Les Paul Junior resumed. Although there were some specification changes, the Kluson tuners and stop-bar tailpiece have basically been the defining features of the Les Paul Junior since its introduction in 1954.

This model is a reproduction of the single-cutaway Les Paul Junior from 1958, before the shape was changed from the single-cutaway shape similar to the Les Paul Standard to the double-cutaway shape.

It is equipped with a single P-90 pickup in the bridge position. This is an indispensable element for the Les Paul Junior, which has both crispness and sustained midrange. The stopbar tailpiece is also key to the unique, bright sound of this guitar.
