Pair of antique Huyler’s advertising trade cards promoting the company’s cocoa, chocolates and fine confections.
Both feature beautifully detailed color lithographed imagery. One depicts an elegantly dressed woman enjoying a cup of Huyler’s cocoa, flanked by illustrated packages of Huyler’s Cocoa and chocolate. The second depicts two children with a cup of cocoa, dolls and a Huyler’s Cocoa package, captioned “I Want A Cup of Huyler’s Cocoa, Too!”
The reverse sides advertise Huyler’s Fine Confections, Cocoa & Chocolates at 863 Broadway, New York, along with the company’s office and factory at 18th Street and Irving Place and an extensive list of branch stores.
The larger card measures approximately 4 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches; the children’s card approximately 5 1/4 x 3 3/4 inches.
Both have been stored protected in plastic sleeves/cases. Antique condition with age-related wear. The larger card has cracking/creasing at the lower left corner. The smaller card shows toning and old tape/tape residue on the reverse. Please examine all photographs closely for condition.
A colorful pair of early Huyler’s advertising pieces with particularly appealing period imagery and prominent cocoa and chocolate packaging.
This is part of a larger collection of early advertising and trade cards that I will be listing separately.
