This beautiful Japanese Cloisonne lidded pot dates to the late Meiji Period,19th / early 20th century.

The decoration and theme of this piece is of the highest quality, showing a fine Japanese, 3 toed dragon on a ginbari background on the lid, with distinctive 'tight swirls' border on the top and bottom joining areas of the lid and body.

The bottom shows more Ginbari background with flora and Ruyi like bordering around a bare bronze foot showing nice wear.

The inside has rich deep green enamelling on the lid and body and the two pieces sit well together without being to tight or too loose.

The base metal for this item is bronze as is shown on the foot pad.

Items of this quality are incredibly hard to come by and more likely to be seen in museums than on the open market.

It measures 8.2cm wide x 3.5cm deep - 110gm.

There is only minor age related wear (if any) and some minor crackling within the enamel, as shown.
