This is a beautiful & rare cloisonné bowl showing very fine cloud swirls typical of fine items made between c1820 & 1920.
I estimate this to date to around Emperor Xianfeng period c1851-61 or perhaps a little earlier during the Daoguang period c1821-51.
It has a bronze body with overlaid cloisonne enamels also showing intricate prunus blossom on a light brown branch, both inside and out.
The bronze upper lip curls under slightly, on the outside, and over slightly on the inside. It also runs around the bowl in a wavy /rippling edge, rather than a straight, flat, circular edge, as seen on normal bowls. This is a rare sign of quality manufacture.
This is one of the best items of cloisonne I've seen, especially considering its age and unique shape.
It's around 17cm wide x 6cm deep.
Condition - incredibly good with only minor pitting, if any, as shown.
As always, please examine the pictures in all my listings as they form part of the description.
