I am selling a very pretty Edwardian antique steel hat pin with a length of 10 inches.

The circular decorative end of the hat pin has a diameter of 1.25 inches and has an enamelled surface decorated with pretty stylised flowers. The decorative end of the hat pin is very securely attached to the steel pin and has no fragilities.

This hat pin dates between 1901-1910 when hat pins were worn to secure very large and elaborate hats to the head.  As Edwardian ladies also had very elaborate hairdos, hat pins needed to be very long, sometimes being up to 16 inches in length.  Hat pins could be very sharp and acorn shaped point protectors were manufactured to protect bystanders from the sharp end of hat pins.  Hats were worn indoors when visiting as it was quite hard to unpin them.

This pretty hat pin will make a lovely addition to a collection of similar items.

This item has had a previous life and may show signs of wear and tear commensurate with age. If I spot any issues these will be included in the description or in the photos of the item. Please check these before purchasing.
