An authentic late Qing Dynasty to early Republican period (circa mid-19th to early 20th century) Chinese Shiwan (Shekwan) pottery ovoid jarlet / miniature vase.
The vessel is finished in a thick, vibrant, and unctuous monochrome "Pomegranate Red" (Shiliuhong) glaze showing a beautiful, fine underglaze crackle. The interior and flat base are completely unglazed, displaying the characteristic smooth, light-buff stoneware clay body native to the Guangdong kilns. The base features an incised concentric ring and a natural glaze overrun edge.
Please note: The wooden display stand shown in the photographs is for display purposes only and is NOT included in the sale.
