Original December 26, 1872 letterhead from The George Place Machinery Company, New York, dealers in railway and machine shop equipment. Addressed to Clark Bros. & Co., Milldale, Connecticut, the letter provides details and pricing on their 26-inch Swing Engine Lathe.

Attached to the letter is a printed catalog insert with an engraved illustration of the lathe, listing its specifications (swing over bed, screw cutting, slide rest, steel spindles, countershaft, face plates, tool block, etc.). The letter notes availability of the model, pricing around $760–$850 depending on bed length, and references a 16-foot bed option.

Letter is written on blue-lined paper with elegant company letterhead (est. 1855), measures approx. 8.25" × 10.5". Crisp strike of the blue company stamp. A superb combination of handwritten correspondence and attached machinery catalog illustration, ideal for collectors of industrial history, early machine tools, or New York trade ephemera.
