DSPIAE  |  MS-02
Oscillating Paint Stirrer
Put the pot on it, walk away. No decanting, no stir bar, no lid off.
⚠️ DSPIAE makes two paint stirrers and they are not the same machine
The other one, the MS-01, is a magnetic stirrer. You decant paint into a separate mixing bottle, drop in a steel stir bar, and a spinning magnet drags the bar through the liquid. DSPIAE's own specification for it states plainly that it cannot be used to stir thick paints — not undiluted paint, not paint at brush consistency. It is a thinning tool for airbrush work.
The MS-02 on this page works the opposite way round. It shakes the sealed pot. Nothing is decanted, no stir bar goes in the paint, and the consistency of what is inside does not matter, because the machine is moving the container rather than dragging something through the contents. If what you want is your existing pots mixed, this is the one.
📌 The problem this solves

Paint separates. Pigment sinks, medium floats, and what comes out of a pot you have not touched in six months is the wrong colour and the wrong consistency — usually discovered halfway through a coat.

The fix is shaking, properly, for longer than anyone actually shakes for. Thirty seconds of half-hearted rattling moves the top third of the pot and leaves a compacted plug of pigment on the bottom. That plug is why a colour comes out translucent, why a metallic goes on grey, and why the second coat never matches the first.

Doing it properly by hand is dull, and if you have a shelf of thirty pots to get through before a session, or wrists that object to being shaken about, it stops being a small chore. This does that work for you, on the pot, with the lid on, while you get on with something else.

⚡ What the numbers actually mean
▪ 3200 oscillations per minute — not 3200 rpm. You will see this written as "3200 rpm" on other listings. Nothing on this tool rotates, so there is no revolution to count. It is a shake rate: roughly fifty-three shakes every second. Worth knowing before you compare it against anything, because a stirrer quoting five figures of rpm is measuring something completely different and the two numbers cannot be set against each other.
▪ Three speed stages, and you will use more than one. A dropper bottle of thin ink and a heavy pot of settled metallic want different treatment. The lower stages are for anything light or nearly full; the top stage is for the pot that has been on the shelf since last year.
▪ Brushless motor and ball bearings. Brushless means no carbon brushes to wear down and replace, which on a tool that runs in short bursts for years is the difference between a five-year life and a fifteen-year one. The bearings are why it runs smoothly rather than buzzing itself across the desk.
▪ Aluminium alloy pedestal. Mass and rigidity. A shaker fights against its own base, and a light plastic one walks off the bench. This is the reason DSPIAE put metal underneath it.
▪ Silicone mixing surface. Grips the bottle so it does not wander, and dried paint peels or wipes straight off it. Given what this tool is for, a surface that does not permanently record every spill matters more than it sounds.
🤔 MS-02 or MS-01?
How it worksMS-02 shakes the sealed bottle  |  MS-01 spins a steel bar through the liquid
Thick or undiluted paintMS-02 yes  |  MS-01 no, per DSPIAE's own specification
Decanting requiredMS-02 no  |  MS-01 yes, into a mixing bottle
Stir bar in the paintMS-02 no  |  MS-01 yes
Contamination between coloursMS-02 none, the pot stays shut  |  MS-01 bar and bottle need cleaning
Best atMS-02 remixing pots you already own  |  MS-01 blending thinned paint for airbrushing
Straight answer — and this one is about not buying: if you own a dozen paints and shaking them by hand has never bothered you, this solves a problem you do not have. Save the £35. It earns its place for three people: anyone with a large collection facing a shelf of pots before every session, anyone airbrushing regularly where properly mixed paint is the difference between a clean coat and a spattered one, and anyone for whom shaking things repeatedly is genuinely uncomfortable. If that is you, it is a good tool. If it is not, we would rather say so.
📦 What's in the box
✔ 1 × DSPIAE MS-02 oscillating stirrer
✔ Manufacturer's instructions
✘ No paint, thinner or mixing bottles
✘ No stir bars — and none needed, this is not a magnetic stirrer
✘ The DSPIAE Hub app is a free download, not something in the box
DSPIAE does not publish a packing list for this item, so we have not listed a cable or power adapter above — we would rather understate it than promise something that turns out not to be there. Message us before ordering if that matters to your setup and we will open a box and tell you exactly what is in it.

💡 Getting the most out of it
Check the lid before you switch it on. Obvious, and it is the mistake everyone makes exactly once. Dropper bottles in particular are easy to leave loose.
Let it stand for a minute before airbrushing. Shaking a pot mixes it thoroughly and puts air into it. Sixty seconds on the bench lets the bubbles rise and saves you spitting through the airbrush. Not a fault — it is what shaking does, and it is the honest trade against a magnetic stirrer.
Start on a lower stage, then go up. A full pot on the top setting is more energetic than it needs to be. Work up until the paint is moving properly rather than starting at maximum.
Scrape the plug first on a badly settled pot. If pigment has compacted solid in the bottom, break it up with a stick before you start. Shaking will disperse a soft settlement but it will not dissolve a set plug for you.
Wipe the platform while it is wet, or peel it when dry. Either works. Leaving a spill to cure in the corner of a silicone pad and then attacking it with a scalpel is how a good surface gets ruined.
Use the power source the manual specifies. Reach for the instructions rather than the highest-wattage phone charger in the drawer. Low-voltage electronics and aggressive fast chargers are not always friends.
⚖️ Honest limitations
Sealed containers only. It shakes the bottle. There is no version of this where an open pot ends well.
It aerates the paint. A magnetic stirrer folds paint quietly; a shaker whips air into it. Manageable with a minute of standing time, but it is a real difference and you should know about it before you buy rather than after.
It mixes paint, it does not rescue it. Separated paint comes back. Paint that has gone lumpy, skinned over, or dried to a rubbery mass does not, and no amount of shaking will change that. If a pot is genuinely dead, this will not resurrect it.
No published maximum bottle size or weight. DSPIAE describes compatibility only as a wide range of bottle types. Standard hobby pots and dropper bottles are clearly the intended use; a large tin of enamel is not something we would put on it, and DSPIAE gives no figure to tell you where the line is.
The app is a convenience, not the tool. Three speed stages work without a phone. And app-controlled features last exactly as long as the manufacturer keeps the app working with current phone software — if DSPIAE Hub stops being updated one day, you still have a three-speed stirrer, you just lose the lighting customisation. Worth factoring in rather than paying for the app in your head.
The RGB lighting does not make it mix better. It looks good on a shelf. That is the whole of its function and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
No published weight, dimensions or rated input. If you are planning a fitted bench layout to the millimetre, ask us and we will measure one before you order.
