Marie Suazo is a respected Santa Clara Pueblo potter who learned the traditional art of pottery from her mother, Mae Tapia, and comes from a multi-generational family of Native American artisans. She is known for her beautifully crafted blackware pottery, miniature animal figurines, polished seed pots, and sgraffito designs.

This handcrafted turtle features a matte black finish with polished shell segments and a turquoise-colored eye. Measuring approximately 4.5 inches long, it is a wonderful example of late 20th-century Santa Clara Pueblo pottery and Native American craftsmanship.
