A Fabulous Weighted F H Ayres chess set Circa 1900
Typical Intricately Carved Knights and red stamps for F H Ayres of this period
King 10cm tall and 69 grams
Rook 52g, Knights 47g, Bishops 45g, Pawns 21-27g
All pieces with green baize to undersides, and most in perfect condition (rare for major pieces)
Damage to pieces as follows:-
- Black Queen, two small splits to base and light crown damage (one 'prong' missing)
- Black King, one small base split
- One Black Bishop, one small base split
Also included with this lot, a period heavy leather bound board in good condition with green baize underneath
& a wonderful old chess booklet from 1808
