Absolutely incredible antique telephone trade circular. This is likely the first time this historic piece of late 19th century advertising has ever come up for this. This broadside is from the T.G. Ellsworth, who is the first person in history to sell Bell Telephones and other independently manufactured phones. Before this Bell Telephones rented the devices to subscribers. This captures the exact moment Ellsworth capitalized on the expiration of Alexander Graham Bell's foundational telephone receiver patent (which expired on January 30, 1894). Immediately following the expiration, Ellsworth bypassed the Bell Telephone Company's restrictive rental monopoly, declaring "No More Rentals. Sold Outright to Everybody," successfully undercutting the monopoly by selling independent hardware directly to the public.
