This is a vintage linen postcard, unposted and featuring the Nelson Dream Village, a historic tourist court built in 1934 along U.S. Route 66 in Lebanon, Missouri. The village consisted of twelve tourist cabins constructed with unique native stone in the Ozark "giraffe" style. The property was developed by Col. Arthur T. Nelson, who named it after a vision he had in a dream. Nelson, who was an advocate of "Good Roads" donated land to the state for the construction of the newly designated highway in 1926. He then capitalized on the opportunity by building the Nelson Tavern and Service Station to cater to the growing number of travelers. The "Dream Village" was built in 1934 and included a dozen tourist cabins. The site was demolished in 1977 to make way for the construction of Interstate 44. Postcard published 1936 by Curt Teich.
