This is a very old, much washed item. The printing in most of the white rectangles s is starting to fade. It has several stains in the right side (pic posted) but no holes, rips or busted seams. It has no odors.

Please notice the interesting part of the top is the 36 different possibly advertising pieces, and the blue swatches, which come from sacks that contained products of a well known feed company from New Braunfels, Texas, named Dittingler Mill and Grain Company, which was founded in 1886 and was in business until 2023. 

Several blue rectangles have this company printing on the back, so they are just blue when you see the top of this item. We posted just one example of the printing, as we considered more important to post as many "advertising" pieces as possible. 

Notice this quilt top, if it is a quilt top, has a border of squares that is clearly different to the central area. 

Including the border, this measures 84" by 70" across and weighs almost 2 3/4 lbs. unboxed, as the cottons involved are heavy.

The bed is a queen, 80" by 60".

The printing on the white rectangles are related to football teams, US military, at least one (possibly) to a 1942 movie, pirates, baseball, clowns, etc. Please check the 19 examples posted; the total number is 36.

The piecing was done by machine.

The "possible" movie is "Careful, Soft Shoulders" from 1942. The words are not exactly the same than the print in this quilt top, but it somewhat close. Maybe the advertising in the top is for some kind of beauty product, we really can't tell.

This seems to be a unique item with, hopefully, some historical or collectible value that future owners can understand better than us.
