You are buying an old Austrian M-58 steel pot helmet. Used by the Austrian military and defense protection forces from the late 1950s through the 1990s. Produced from the late 1950s onward for the Austrian Federal Army (Bundesheer). It features a rear-seam steel shell. The outer metal rim joins at the back of the helmet, just like late US models from World War II. The exterior surface usually has a very rough and aggressive dark olive green finish (with anti-reflective treatment of sand or abrasive material). The side chin strap attachments are almost identical to the American ones, welded directly to the bowl. A heavy pot made of manganese steel. After World War II, Austria relied on surplus US M1 helmets. Then Austria began manufacturing its own domestic clones (M58/M75) through local firms like Ulbrichts Witwe in Schwanenstadt and DKI (Dansk Kunststof Industri).

Thw condition is well used condition, with obvious signs of use. Ocher color on surface due to corrosion from poor storage and the shadow of having been covered by a cloth net. Swivel bales are moving, they are not stuck. It's not dented.
