Antique circa 1895 Map of the City of New Orleans, published by Staub, News Dealer / Goldthwaite’s Book Store, Canal & Exchange Place, New Orleans, and printed by M.F. Dunn & Bro.

Measures approximately 10 7/8” x 14”. Detailed period map includes Lake Pontchartrain, West End, Spanish Fort, Milneburg, Carrollton, the Mississippi River, railroads, cemeteries, public squares, hotels, markets and an extensive street directory.

This example is mounted on old board and clearly saw considerable use. Heavy age-related wear throughout including surface rubbing, staining, edge and corner wear, small losses, old adhesive/residue and handwritten notations on the reverse. Please examine photographs carefully for condition.

A wonderful surviving piece of 19th-century New Orleans history with particularly strong visual character. The wear and patina remain untouched; no attempt has been made to restore or improve the piece.
