Signed "Counis" — Set in Elaborate Gilt-Bronze Filigree Swivel Frame

Up for sale is a fine antique/vintage miniature portrait depicting Marie Pauline Bonaparte, Princess Borghese (1780–1825), the famed younger sister of Napoleon Bonaparte.

This piece is executed in the classic Empire/Romantic style, showing Pauline in a rich red gown draped over her shoulder with her left hand resting gracefully at her chest. It features a visible signature "Counis" in the lower right background, after the original work by renowned Swiss-Italian court miniaturist Salomon-Guillaume Counis (1785–1859).

The painting is housed in an exceptionally intricate gilt-brass/bronze filigree frame with an inner beaded oval bezel, openwork corner detailing, and an outer geometric border. The frame includes a top hanging loop and a swivel design.
