Written by Larry David and directed by Tom Cherones, “The Contest” originally aired on November 18, 1992. This is the celebrated Season 4 episode featuring Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer’s famous contest of self-control.
The script is printed on standard production-style paper and secured with two brass script fasteners. This is an as-broadcast continuity or file copy script, reflecting the episode as it aired, rather than an earlier table or shooting draft.
I reviewed sections of the episode online, and the actors follow the script contained here in. The script is 68 pages long and includes the cover page.
“The Contest” became one of the best-known episodes of the series and earned Larry David the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. A great piece to add to your collection if you are a Seinfeld fan, or a great script to just have and share with friends. This episode is hilarious.
This copy came from an estate sale in a North Hollywood home. It appears to be an original, not a collectors copy, as it doesn't have the green or yellow cover sheet. I am not a collector, just a super fan of the show.
