 Amethyst is a stunning variety of quartz, renowned for its vibrant purple colour, which results from iron and other trace minerals. It forms in geodes – hollow rocks lined with crystals – when silica-rich liquids cool and solidify over millions of years.

Meaning & Energy

Amethyst symbolises tranquillity, clarity, and spiritual wisdom. In mythology, it is linked to the Greek legend of the maiden Amethystos. According to the tale, Amethystos was turned into a clear crystal by the goddess Artemis to protect her from the wrath of Dionysus, the god of wine. Dionysus, regretful of his actions, poured wine over the crystal, giving it its distinctive purple hue.
