Woolf Barnato Bentley Speed Six Blue Train Alan Fearnley Art Print 11.75"x10"
Content of this listing © But for the Love of Cars. All rights reserved.
Exceptional Alan Fearnley art print entitled "Barnato and the Blue Train," depicting one of motoring's most celebrated legends—Bentley Boy Woolf Barnato racing his Bentley Speed Six against the famous Blue Train express across France, the dark Gurney Nutting fastback coupé charging down a country road at golden sunset as the steam-hauled train sweeps across the plain behind. On a spur-of-the-moment wager, Barnato drove from the French Riviera to London faster than the celebrated luxury express—winning his bet by a full four hours, in a feat that has become part of Bentley folklore.
Painting title, size and owner noted below the image.
• Size: 11 3/4" x 10” (30cm x 26cm)
• Stock: Smooth semi-gloss book stock
• Source publication: Hard-bound book—yields a beautifully flat sheet
• Condition: Excellent condition, bright, clean, straight and unblemished
Alan Fearnley is widely regarded as one of Britain's foremost transport artists, having trained at Batley College of Art in his native Yorkshire before turning from railway and landscape subjects to motoring and motor racing in the 1980s. Working in oil on canvas, he brings a classical, atmospheric sensibility to automotive art—rendering legendary marques such as Ferrari, Bentley, Bugatti, Mercedes and Rolls-Royce not as mere technical studies but as evocative period scenes with genuine pictorial merit. His paintings hang in public, private and corporate collections worldwide, and his reputation has drawn commissions from Rolls-Royce, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz as well as exhibitions with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in London.
Print is machine-trimmed for a sharp, straight edge. Stored and shipped in polypro sleeves with archival backing boards. Handled with due respect—by the edges and with cotton gloves to avoid finger printing and handling wear. Packed carefully between sturdy corrugated sheets to make their way through the postal system intact.
