Skimming gold coins was often done by filing or drilling small amounts of gold off before being passed off in general commerce. Thus affording the crook to accumulate amounts of “Gold Dust” overtime to profit from. This scale has a Patent Pending stamped on the arm that can be seen in the photos. The scale is Brass and comes with the often missing Counterweight. Measures 8 1/2” long. The scale is Original and Genuine. It works as intended. The counterweight is a replica that is nearly exactly like the originals. These counterweights are almost always missing.
