Larry Carlton didn't earn the nickname "Mr. 335" because he owned one.
He earned it because he helped define what an ES-335 could be.
For decades, his unmistakable tone graced legendary recordings with Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, The Crusaders, and hundreds of other sessions that helped shape modern music. His phrasing became the standard, his touch became instantly recognizable, and before long, the guitar itself had a new nickname...
"Mr. 335."
So when Gibson's Memphis Custom Shop set out to build Larry Carlton's signature ES-335, they didn't simply put his name on the headstock and call it a day. They obsessed over every detail—from the unique 1-9/16" nut width and slim '60s neck profile to the Gibson Classic '57 pickups and timeless appointments that made Larry's beloved 335 feel like an old friend the moment you picked it up.
The result isn't just another ES-335… It's a master class with strings attached.

Condition:
She was born in 2007 and has been treated with the kind of respect usually reserved for vintage Ferraris and first-edition comic books.
She's in excellent condition. There is some mild finish checking on the back of the headstock, a couple of extremely light surface impressions that can only be found under direct reflective light, along with the typical light pick scratches on the pick-guard from normal playing. The original graphite nut has been professionally replaced with the bone nut shown in the photos, which is a tasteful upgrade. Other than that, she remains wonderfully original.
The frets have plenty of life left, the neck is silky smooth, the electronics function perfectly, and she delivers everything you'd expect from a world-class Memphis Custom Shop ES-335.

- Original Gibson Custom Shop Hardshell Case
