It not only extremely rare dut to not being able to buy the hat without the video game, but this is also the only time that MLB has officially licensed a change to their Batterman Logo. The story of this hat is based on Ken Griffey Jr. being selected to the Hall of Fame in 2016 and featured on the cover of The Show video game. Ken Griffey was known for wearing his New Era hat backwards, so New Era and Sony asked MLB to allow them to use this modified logo. They agreed. I heard that they later feel they should not have granted this change to their logo. Since this hat in 2017, they have never again agreed to a licensed change to their MLB Batterman logo.
