Up for auction is a wonderful piece of mid-century maritime history: an original vintage dinner menu from the legendary ocean liner S.S. Homeric, proudly operated by Home Lines. Dated exactly Friday, June 10, 1966, this menu was issued during one of the ship's highly celebrated weekly "Sun-Way Cruises" to Nassau in the Bahamas. It serves as a fantastic, tangible artifact from the golden era of 1960s luxury cruising departing from New York.

This specific menu features a specially curated "Italian Dinner" theme, which was a signature highlight of the Home Lines experience. Because the line was famous for its predominantly Italian crew, officers, and culinary staff, their Italian gala nights were legendary among passengers. The extensive, multi-course interior menu showcases an array of authentic mid-century gourmet fare, including Minestrone alla Fiorentina, Linguine with White Clam Sauce, Chicken Cacciatora Sauce with Canelloni au Gratin, and traditional Cassata Conca d'Oro for dessert.

The striking front and back covers display a vibrant, wrap-around color illustration of the magnificent white-hulled S.S. Homeric cutting through deep blue ocean waters, complete with its iconic yellow and blue Home Lines funnel. Originally launched in 1931 as the high-speed luxury liner Mariposa, the ship saw heavy service as a troopship in WWII before being beautifully refitted by Home Lines in the 1950s. It became one of the most beloved cruise ships of its era until a tragic shipboard fire ultimately led to its retirement in 1974, making surviving ephemera like this highly collectible.

In terms of condition, this 60-year-old artifact remains solid and completely intact, though it shows honest signs of age and passenger handling. There is some noticeable edge wear, surface scuffing, age-toning, and minor staining/foxing on the white border areas of the outer covers, all of which have been clearly photographed for full transparency.
