Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible **Vintage 1970s Sicura Marine Star Automatic Diver**. Sicura watches from this era hold a legendary place in horological history, as Sicura’s CEO, Ernest Schneider, famously bought and saved the Breitling brand in 1979 using the success of models just like this one.

 

This stunning timepiece features an eye-catching, original deep blue-to-black sunburst gradient dial. It is paired with striking luminous yellow baton indices, a unique "killer arrow" hour hand, and an orange-tipped seconds hand. A day-and-date complication sits neatly at the 3 o'clock position.

The reverse features the highly coveted, original embossed Sicura case back, displaying the iconic twin seahorses, shield, and crown emblem. The watch comes mounted on a classic, vintage-style stainless steel jubilee bracelet that perfectly complements its authentic 1970s aesthetic.

Condition Report

Dial & Hands: Beautiful vintage condition. The blue dial finish is incredibly crisp, and the original tritium lume plots have aged to a highly desirable warm yellow-green patina.

Case & Bezel: The chrome-plated base metal case and bi-directional rotating bezel show honest signs of vintage wear, light scuffs, and minor pitting on the lug edges/crown guard consistent with a 50-year-old tool watch. No major gouges.

Crystal: Clear with only minor, faint hairline marks that do not distract from the gorgeous dial.

Case Back: The stainless steel screw-down back is fully legible with a crisp Sicura crest stamp and light surface pocket scratches.

Movement: The 17-jewel automatic movement is currently running, winding smoothly, and changing dates correctly. As with all unserviced vintage timepieces, no guarantees can be made on long-term timekeeping accuracy or power reserve. A routine service is always recommended for daily wear.

Water Resistance: Historically rated to 600 feet. Due to its age and original gaskets, this watch is NOT water-resistant and should not be exposed to water or moisture.
