The Tunnel is a location in East Yorkshire, near the village of Kilham, that inspired several of Hockney's landscape paintings from 2005 and 2006, including works like Late Spring Tunnel May 2006. The paintings depict the dense foliage of the location, which, especially in summer, forms a natural tunnel-like passage.
David Hockney is a highly influential and innovative British artist known for his work in painting, drawing, printmaking, and stage design since the 1960s, becoming a key figure in the Pop Art movement.
