Lot of 5 vintage French copper Windsor flared saucepans
Each pan has the maker's stamp for Chomette Favor. The larger pan also has a stamp for Villedieu, France.
Lot includes: 1 x hammered copper pan - approx. 18cm diameter x 7cm height with a rim of 2.5 - 3mm and weighing 1.7kg
3 x copper pans - approx. 18cm diameter x 7cm height with a rim of 3mm and weighing 1.7kg
1 x copper pan - approx. 23cm diameter x 8cm height with a rim of 2.5mm and weight 2.3kg
Each pan has a cast iron handle firmly fixed with oversized copper rivets. The pans are tin lined and sit flat.
In good vintage condition with associated signs of use, marks and wear. The tin lining is darker grey in places which happens through use. The 23cm pan has some utensil marks in the base with a small amount of copper bleed. One of the 18cm pans also has a small amount of copper bleed in the base.
A Windsor Sauce Pan features flared sides making it especially useful for the reduction of liquids or sauces, as it has a wide surface area which promotes evaporation. The pan's shape also makes it an ideal choice for reheating soup and sauces or warming milk for hot chocolate.
Of very good quality, from a sought after maker, these pans would make a super addition to any copper cookware collection. With care, they will give many more years of service.
