About Painter:

Zhang Daqian (simplified Chinese: 张大千; traditional Chinese: 張大千; pinyin: Zhāng

Dàqiān; Wade–Giles: Chang Ta-chien)(1899–1983)—a visionary of 20th-century Chinese art—

revolutionized ink painting with his "splashed-ink" technique. Born in Sichuan, he mastered

classical styles through meticulous copying of ancient masters like Shitao, later traveling

to Dunhuang (1941–1943) to study Buddhist murals, which refined his use of mineral

pigments and gold leaf. After 1949, his exile-inspired innovations fused abstraction with

tradition, creating ethereal landscapes like "Aerial View of Mount Lu".
