Gold Diggers and Camp Followers.  1845-1851.  By David Allen Comstock.  Hardcover, no dj, pub. 1982, limited edition of 2000 copies, 413 pages.  Signed by author.  A volume in the Nevada County Chronicles.  There were three volumes in the series but I do not have others.  Sort of a cross between a history of the early years during the Gold Rush and an historical novel of the period.  Dialogue of some of the main characters and their thoughts about events.  Early newspapers, politics, mining, Mormon migrations to the West, confrontations between Native Americans and the westward expansion.  Indexed and bibliography so there is some historical basis.  Shipping weight over 1 pound.
