This is an exceptional, highly collectible piece of regional soda advertising: an authentic, vintage late-1950s (circa 1958–1960) 7Up 12 oz. flat-top steel soda can. This incredibly scarce variant proudly features local distribution text along the side seam reading: "Packaged and distributed by Anchorage Cold Storage Company, Inc., Anchorage, Alaska." Dating precisely to the final transitional years of Alaska’s territorial status and its early path to statehood, this can displays the iconic "Fresh Up with Seven-Up" slogan. The top lid has been neatly, historically opened via two classic triangular church-key punch holes, leaving the small red-and-orange 7Up tax/logo stamp perfectly intact and centered on the lid.
This specimen is a textbook guide to mid-century packaging evolution. It features the classic 7Up "7-bubble" shield design over a stark white background—a legendary design configuration rolled out nationwide in 1958 to replace the older, all-green cans. The bottom edge is stamped with the tiny, elegant, cursive "MiraCan" trademark logo utilized by the American Can Company, which was entirely phased out by 1960. Structurally, it is a heavy 3-piece steel container with a thick, soldered side seam that securely places it in the pre-pull-tab era.
A phenomenal "dump-found" or attic-stored survivor, this can has great vintage character while keeping its essential historical markings beautifully legible. The primary red, white, and green lithography remains vibrant and makes for an incredible front display piece, and the critical Anchorage text on the seam is fully readable. The can shows honest environmental wear expected for an authentic piece of this age, including extensive rust creeping along the top and bottom rolled rims, heavy oxidation on the soldered side seam, and general surface pitting/scratching as pictured. A premier addition to any advanced collection of vintage 7Up advertising, early flat-tops, or rare Alaskan ephemera!
