This store was not a high-volume store, and it was very remote in the Bisti Badlands area 25 miles north of Crownpoint.  We only did business during a good piñon year.  They handled some rugs but generally they were rough weavers.  Most of the weavers traded at Crownpoint where the famous Crownpoint Auction was developed in 1964.  White Horse store was owned by Muriel Buck from 1920 until 1941.  Two trade tokens were known to be issued by Muriel (25¢ and 50¢) likely issued in the early 1920s..   Either Carl or Lamar Ashcroft were known to have the store until the 80s before leaving for Ashcroft Trading in Kirtland, NM.  His son , Ross, took over the store is still associated with its ownership.  Attached photos are of the Badlands and Crownpoint Rug Auction.
